EU Updates List of Authorized Substances for Plastic Food Contact Materials

On February 3, 2026, the European Commission published Commission Regulation (EU) 2026/245, amending Annex I to Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 regarding plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. The amendment updates the Union list of authorized substances, formally adding six new substances to the positive list and revising the entry for one existing substance based on recent safety assessments by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
