On Jul. 2, 2020, Japan MHLW announced a supplementary explanation of FCM raw material specifications, adding some notes for FCM raw materials in the FCM positive list updated in May[4] .
1. New polymer
The new usage requirements need to be stipulated when the polymer is produced in the following 2 cases:
The base polymer specified in Appendix 1 (1) base polymers of plastics [2] chemically reacts with each other to form a new polymer;
The base polymer specified in Appendix 1 (1) base polymers of plastics [2] chemically reacts with base polymer specified in Appendix 1 (2) base polymers of coatings etc. (coatings) [3] to form a new polymer.
The new requirements stipulated will involve:
Applicable food category (acid food, fats and fatty foods, milk and dairy products, wine and other foods, etc.).
Maximum temperature
Synthetic resin category
Other matters
2. The paint film
As Appendix 1 (2) base polymers of coatings etc. (coatings) [3] is sorted out according to the actual manufacturing situation, when a chemical reaction occurs between the base polymers specified in Appendix 1 (2) base polymers of coatings etc. (coatings) [3] and forms new polymers used for paint film, it is not required to stipulate the new requirements for the new polymers.
