On January 15, 2025, South Korea’s National Institute of Chemical Safety (NICS) opened a public consultation on the draft amendment to the hazard assessment results of new chemical substances previously registered under K-REACH. Comments are welcome before February 3, 2025.
The amendment this time aims to disclose the chemical names and CAS numbers of 236 registered and assessed new chemicals. To protect confidential business information (CBI), enterprises are allowed to safeguard the confidentiality of the full chemical name of registered substances. Many substances under K-REACH are claimed confidential with only generic names disclosed. As the period of CBI protection has expired, the NICS intends to disclose chemical information about these substances.
Details on these chemicals can be accessed here, including information on Given No., chemical name, CAS No., toxic or not, classification and labeling.
