MEP Issues Draft Guidance of GLP Chemical Testing

China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) is consulting expert views on four draft HJ national standards for China’s chemical testing Good Laboratory Practices.

The four draft standards are drawn up to give better laboratory and testing practice instructions to China’s new chemical substances notification and chemical environmental management system. Concerned parties are welcomed to submit China MEP commentary feedback in written form by 30 May 2012. The proposals are:

  • The Guidance of Chemical Testing Good Laboratory Practices (expected to replace its 2004 old version, HJ/T 155-2004)

  • The Guides for compliance monitoring procedures for chemical testing good laboratory practice

  • The Guidance of chemical testing good laboratory inspections and audits

  • The Guidance for the preparation of chemical testing good laboratory inspection reports

Revision on the 2004 HJ/T 155 Guidance include the addition of chapters like testing waste disposal, safety measures for environment and health and emergency response measures, modifying the original principle of sub-commission by the main lab to universal organization and management for multiple testing places.

The compilation has combined experience accumulated during the 2008 MEP inspection on new chemical substance ecotoxicological testing institutes. It also referred to a large part of the OECD Principles of Good Laboratory Practice, such as No. 1, 2, 3, 5, 9 principles with a view to keep closer to the internationally acknowledged system of GLP chemical test and lab management.
