New Mexico Finalizes PFAS Rule with Labeling Requirements Starting 2027

New Mexico has finalized PFAS rule 20.13.2 NMAC, imposing phased prohibitions, reporting, labeling, and CUU mechanisms for consumer products with intentionally added PFAS starting July 1, 2026, with major bans effective from January 1, 2027 through 2032.

The New Mexico Environmental Improvement Board (NMEIB) has finalized a rule, codified as 20.13.2 NMAC, regulating per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in consumer products. Signed on April 17, 2026, the rule implements the state's PFAS Protection Act and establishes a robust framework for prohibition, reporting, labeling, and testing of products containing intentionally added PFAS. It will take effect from July 1, 2026.
