The list comprises 110 new chemical substances, among which 46, including “Iron potassium dioxide”, “Phosphorus trifluoride”, etc., have been found to possess hazards such as acute toxicity, carcinogenicity, and skin corrosion.

On September 27, 2024, Japan officially approved this amendment. The updates will be effective from the date of promulgation. Notably, the 2023 amendment revised by the 2024 amendment will continue to be effective from June 1, 2025.

Global Chemical Regulation Highlights | September 2024
In September of 2024, China initiated revision to GB 15258 to incorporate QR code requirements for GHS label preparation. Japan proposed to add 155 substances subject to mandatory GHS compliance. South Korea provided the public a more comprehensive list of controlled POPs. Vietnam finalized the draft Law on Chemicals. Thailand opened public consultation on the updates to the List of Hazardous Substances. Australia proposed to prohibit HCB, PCBs, PCTs from import, export, manufacture and use. EU added PFHxA, its salts and related compounds to the Restriction List under REACH with specific exemptions.

Vietnam Finalizes Draft Law on Chemicals
On June 24, 2024, the Government of Vietnam officially approved the draft Law on Chemicals (amended) in Resolution No. 97/NQ-CP. Next, the Government will submit it to the National Assembly for discussion and comments at the 8th Session in October 2024.
