EU Bans PFHxA, Its Salts and Related Compounds under REACH
On September 20, 2024, European Commission announced to add Undecafluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA), its salts and PFHxA-related substances to the Restriction List under REACH (Annex XVII to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006). This amendment was published in the Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/2462 on the Official Journal of the European Union. It will come into force on October 10, 2024.

India Introduces QCO Exemption for Styrene-Butadiene Rubber Latex
On September 18, 2024, India's Department of Chemical and Petrochemicals (DCPC) notified on the Gazette of India to amend the application scope of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for Styrene-Butadiene Rubber Latex. As per the Styrene-Butadiene Rubber Latex (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, this QCO shall not apply to the carboxylated SBR Latex grade for manufacture of automotive lithium ion battery.

Japan to Add 155 Substances Subject to Mandatory GHS Compliance
Article 18-2 of the ISHL Enforcement Order, effective April 1, 2025, states that only chemical substances officially classified as hazardous by March 31, 2021, are required to have SDS and labeling. The proposed revision to Article 18 seeks to extend this deadline to March 31, 2024 to include more substances.
