On September 18, 2024, India's Department of Chemical and Petrochemicals (DCPC) notified on the Gazette of India to amend the application scope of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for Styrene-Butadiene Rubber Latex.
As per the Styrene-Butadiene Rubber Latex (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, this QCO shall not apply to the carboxylated SBR Latex grade for manufacture of automotive lithium ion battery.
The QCO for Styrene-Butadiene Rubber Latex was released by DCPC on April 15, 2021 and has been in force since October 12, 2021.
The QCOs do not apply to chemicals for export only (click here to know more about exemptions). The chemical products conforming to the requirements of the Orders shall bear the Standard Mark under the Grant of License by the Bureau of Indian Standards. Any person who contravenes the provisions of the Orders shall be punished according to the Bureau of Indian Standards Act (BIS Act), 2016.
