Thailand to Adopt New Rules for Licensing of Type 3 Hazardous Substances (Updated on Apr 1, 2024)

On April 1, 2024, Thailand’s Department of Industrial Works (DIW) opened a public consultation to solicit comments for a draft ministerial regulation, prescribing that the application for, or the issuance/modification of the permit of import/export/production/possession of Type 3 hazardous substance should be conducted via e-service.

On June 27, 2022, Thailand’s Department of Industrial Works (DIW) published in the Government Gazette the revised Notification of the Department of Industrial Works Re: Declaration of the Production or Import of Hazardous Substances of Annex 5.6 under Responsibility of the DIW B.E. 2565 (2022), which will come into force on September 25 and the previous version issued in 2015 will be repealed at the same time.

On March 31, 2022, Thailand’s Department of Industrial Works (DIW) notified WTO of the draft amendments to the List of Hazardous Substances under the Hazardous Substances Act (Notification G/TBT/N/THA/659) for comments until May 31, 2022. As per the Notification, the DIW drafted some amendments to revise and add certain hazardous substances on the List of Hazardous Substances.
