288 K-REACH PECs Registration Approved

According to the statistic data from South Korea’s chemical authority, up to Sep 13th, 2018, the registration dossiers of 340 priority existing chemicals (PECs) under K-REACH have been submitted to the authority. 288 of them have been reviewed and approved.

The grace period of the 510 PECs ended on Jun 30th, 2018. So the rest PECs that haven’t been registered before the deadline are not allowed to be imported or manufactured until the registration is completed. However, compared with over a month ago, the number of submitted dossiers only increased by one. This indicates that probably fewer enterprises are interested to act as a leading registrant (LR) for the rest of the 510 PECs.

The amended K-REACH will introduce a new registration mechanism from 1st of Jan 2019 and the scope of PECs will be expanded to around 7,000 substances. But the requirements on the 510 PECs remain unchanged.
