New Chemicals in Korea Required to Comply with Both K-REACH and OSHA

1. Companies should register new chemical substances under OSHA as well as K-REACH. 2. Before 2020, data submission requirements for new chemical substances < 1t/y will vary hugely between OSHA and K-REACH. 3. MoEL may consider waiving some test data under OSHA to relieve the regulatory burden on potential registrants.

K-REACH Joint Registration Pilot Project

K-REACH joint registration pilot project involves 7 substances included in the 1st priority list subject to existing chemical registration. 2. 3 of the 7 priority substances have been replaced for a variety of reasons. 3. Potential registrants intending to join the pilot project need to contact KCMA or Korea Institute of Industrial Technology.

1. New chemical registration dossiers under TCCA should be submitted to NIER before 22 Oct. 2. New chemical substances that fail to complete registration under TCCA should comply with K-REACH from 1 Jan 2015.
