Korea Publishes Draft Toxic, Restricted and Prohibited Substances Lists

On the 25^th of November Korea’s MoE issued the draft lists of toxic, restricted and prohibited chemical substances designated under TCCA with KE No., CAS No., chemical name, content threshold (%). The draft is open for public consultation until the 15^th of Dec 2014.

The TCCA will be replaced by K-REACH and the Chemical Controls Act (CCA) on 1 Jan 2015. Any toxic chemicals, restricted or prohibited chemical substances designated under TCCA will remain in their current category when K-REACH comes into force.

After the implementation of K-REACH, the Minister of Environment (MoE) will designate toxic chemical substances according to the criteria prescribed by the Appendix 3 of the Presidential Decree of K-REACH based on their corresponding hazard assessment results. For restricted or prohibited substances, they will be designated according to Article 27 of K-REACH based on their corresponding hazard and risk assessment.
