China MEP implements 7 Technical Specifications on Non-Ferrous Metal Industry

On December 27, 2017, China MEP released 7 technical specifications on non-ferrous metal industry. The specifications went into effect immediately.

Here are the lists of 7 technical specifications:

1. Technical specification for application and issuance of pollutant permit non-ferrous metal metallurgy industry—titanium smelting (HJ 935—2017)

2. Technical specification for application and issuance of pollutant permit non-ferrous metal metallurgy industry—mercury smelting (HJ 931—2017)

3. Technical specification for application and issuance of pollutant permit non-ferrous metal metallurgy industry—magnesium smelting (HJ 933—2017)

4. Technical specification for application and issuance of pollutant permit non-ferrous metal metallurgy industry—nickel smelting (HJ 934—2017)

5. Technical specification for application and issuance of pollutant permit non-ferrous metal metallurgy industry—tin smelting (HJ 936-2017)

6. Technical specification for application and issuance of pollutant permit non-ferrous metal metallurgy industry—cobalt smelting (HJ937-2017)

7. Technical specification for application and issuance of pollutant permit non-ferrous metal metallurgy industry—antimony smelting (HJ 938—2017)

In addition to these 7 technical specifications in non-ferrous metal industry, there were 3 more specifications released earlier in September 2017- for copper smelting, lead and zinc smelting, and aluminum smelting. These technical specifications are carried out to further support pollutant emission permit system stipulated by the “Implementation Program of Pollutants Emission Permit System” (No.81, Nov 21st, 2016). Apart from application and issuance of pollutant permit, the specifications also regulate self-monitoring, general environmental management requirements, and executive report, etc.

With these new updates the technical specifications now cover a large number of different industries, including the electroplating industry, petrochemical industry, cement industry, iron and steel industry, pesticide industry, coking chemical industry, etc. The list is continuously expanding.
