On June 7, 2022, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China (MEE) issued a notice to make public the ‘HJ 1257-2022 Chemical substances environmental management - Terminology for testing of chemical substances’ (hereinafter referred to as the Standard), which specifies the terms and definitions for testing commonly used in the environmental risk assessment of chemical substances. The Standard has come into force on June 15, 2022.
The Standard prescribes terminology for 124 terms with the corresponding definitions, mainly covering the following five parts:
General terms (44 items)
Aquatic toxicity testing (13 items)
Terrestrial toxicity testing (9 items)
Degradability testing (42 items)
Accumulation testing (16 items)
