On July 10, 2025, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released statistical data which shows a steady increase of conformity assessment results for electrical and electronic products (EEPs) regarding the restriction of hazardous substances (China RoHS 2).
According to statistics, as of June 30, 2025, a total of 1,414 companies have submitted 19,357 conformity assessment information on the RoHS Public Service Platform, covering 30,636 products. The number of product types has increased by 1,015 compared to the end of March this year. Of the 30,636 products, nearly 6,000 monitors accounted for the largest share of the total, followed by microcomputers with more than 5,000.
There are two methods of conformity assessment under China RoHS 2: voluntary certification and self-declaration. This time, 26,631 products were assessed through self-declaration, and 4,005 products were assessed through voluntary certification.
Background
On May 16, 2019, China State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released China RoHS 2: Implementation Arrangements for Conformity Assessment System. Conformity assessment is only mayongndatory for EEPs listed under the Qualification Management Catalogue (First Batch).
The Implementation Arrangements recognize two conformity assessment methods: voluntary certification and compliance self-declaration. Voluntary certification involves applying to an official certification body, with the process being state-standardized. Self-declaration allows suppliers to independently assess conformity and provide supporting technical documents for government review.
