On April 9th, 2021, the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) issued a notice to publish the Main Points of National Standardization Work In 2021 [1], which specified the requirements for establishing high-quality development standard systems, emphasizing the standardization management innovation, and improving the internationalization level of the standardization system.
The standardization level of many industries is to be raised according to the work plan. Consumer product standards and quality will continue being improved, and the consumer quality grading standard system will be researched and constructed to promote the intelligent, personalized, and green upgrade of traditional consumer products, and accelerate the iteration of consumer product standards and the transformation and application of international standards. The development of standards for consumer products that target children and the elderly is emphasized. For toys, baby products, children's furniture, and children's shoes, mandatory national standards and supporting recommended national standards will be formulated. On April 13th, 11 national standard plans for baby products and toys were set up [2]. The food quality national standard system will also be actively established, including the formulation of national standards for basic general purpose, quality grading, and food processing quality control management.
In addition, to ensure the achievement of the "peak carbon dioxide emission" goal, a standardized action plan will be established and the standard system will be improved. More mandatory national standards for the limits of toxic and hazardous chemicals in products will be formulated, and the standards system for green products will be improved, to further protect the environment and human health.
Besides the development of standard systems, strengthening the management of the formulation and revision of standards, and enhancing the implementation and supervision of standards are also the focus of work. At the same time, in order to improve the level of internationalization of the standardization system, the degree of harmonization of domestic and international standards will be improved, and cooperation on standardization at home and abroad will be extensively carried out.
