Japan GHS Classification Tool for Mixtures Based on UN GHS Rev.4

The Japanese METI released a bilingual stand-alone system to facilitate GHS classification and labeling of mixtures in accordance with UN GHS Rev.4 or JIS Z 7252:2009 and JIS Z 7252:2014. Industry stakeholders can use the system but are offered no guarantees as to the global compliance of labels generated using the system.

On Sep 3, 2014, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) released the GHS Mixture Classification System (hereinafter referred as “the system”), which has both a Japanese and English interface.

The system enables automatic generation of classification results and the corresponding label elements simply by registering necessary company information, substance (constituent) identity and data, percentage composition, etc. Classification in accordance with either UN GHS Rev.4 (2011) or the localized JIS Z 7252 (including the 2009 version and the 2014 version) is available.

Down load the GHS Mixture Classification System (*.zip)

While the system allows entry of content percentages between 0% and 200%, an error will occur if the total content doesn’t add up to 100%. One can choose to run the auto correction program to convert the content to 100%, but users bear full responsibility for risks associated with incorrect classification results. For more user tips, please refer to the system operating manual (in English).

The system incorporates part of the chemical database established by National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE). METI has stated that the the system was developed to promote GHS implementation and to facilitate industry GHS compliance. METI assumes no responsibility for any losses resulting from using the system.
