Korea Updates List of Priority Management Substances for Product Notification

MoE Announcement No.2025-125 made updates to the chemical names and hazard types of certain priority management substances.

By the MoE Announcement No.2025-125 on July 21, 2025, South Korea’s Ministry of Environment (MoE) released the revised list of priority management substances, which will take effect on August 7, 2025.

Compared with the previous list, the MoE Announcement No.2025-125 made updates to the chemical names and hazard types of certain chemicals (see Given No. shown above). For example, the chemical name of Given No.4 has been updated from “Urethane” to “Ethyl carbamate”; the hazard type of Given No.27 has been updated from “STOT” to “CMR”.

Notably, the total number of priority management substances remains 699. Detailed updates are available here.

As per Article 32 of K-REACH, manufacturers or importers have legal obligations to notify the authority of the substance name, use, content, hazards, simple exposure information, etc. if their products contain a priority management substance with a quantity above 1t/y and the content exceeding 0.1% w/w (Read more). However, the notification is not required if the substance has been registered under K-REACH.
