MEP Publishes Figures of 4th Batch China REACH SR Records

Over 1400 new substances registered for China REACH Scientific Research Record from November 2010 to the end of 2011.

China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) publishes today the statistics of the 4th batch Scientific Research Record under China New Chemical Substance Notification (China REACH). The fourth batch lists 227 entries covering 355 substances notified by 100 plus companies from October to December of 2011.

Combined with the previous 3 batches, in total 1483 new substances have been registered, from November 2011 to December 2011, with the CRC-MEP (Chemicals Registration Center) for scientific research record, which means these new substances are imported or manufactured in China at the annual tonnage of below 0.1 t/y and for the sole purpose of scientific research.

During the fourth quarter of last year, Merck Hong Kong notified the largest number of substances (over 30) for Scientific Research Record, followed by Rohmhass Shanghai with 30 substances notified for SR Record. Other big notifiers include DuPont, Dows, Bayer, Shiseido, DSM, Huntsman, Dow Corning, etc. Most notified companies are engaged in pharmaceutical, painting, cosmetic and other chemical engineering industry.
