Peru Enacts New Regulation to Eliminate PCBs by 2028

Peru has enacted a new regulation establishing a comprehensive technical regulation for the sanitary and environmental management of PCBs.

On September 13, 2025, the Peruvian government introduced a new regulation to phase out Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs). This significant measure was officially published through Supreme Decree Nº 018-2025-SA, which approves the Technical Regulation for the Sanitary and Environmental Management of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), marking a significant step towards protecting public health and enhancing environmental quality by prioritizing the decontamination and environmentally sound elimination of these persistent organic pollutants.
