The Philippines Consults on New Regulatory Guidelines for Food Contact Articles for Prepackaged Processed Food Products

The Philippines FDA's draft General Guidelines on FCAs aim to prevent chemical migration in prepackaged processed foods, mandating Food Business Operators to certify packaging suitability.

On February 3, 2026, the Philippines Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published the draft General Guidelines on the Regulatory Compliance of Food Contact Articles (FCA) Used for Prepackaged Processed Food Products. The proposal aims to mandate safety standards preventing chemical migration and requires Food Business Operators (FBOs) to verify the suitability of their packaging materials through certification. Industry stakeholders are invited to submit comments on the draft Guidelines by March 4, 2026.
