South Korea is now consulting on adding ten substances to the Authorization List. The consultation will end by January 20, 2022. Once on the list, companies will need to obtain authorization before the “sunset date” to continue manufacturing, importing or using them.
The Act on Registration and Evaluation of Chemicals (K-REACH) came into force from 2015. So far, the Authorization List is not yet published. This is the first time the MoE has issued candidates for comments.
These candidates are selected from substances that have been subject to priority management under K-REACH and other concerned chemicals, based on each substance’s hazards, domestic circulation volume, the existing risk assessment results and control measures in South Korea and abroad. The risk-based analysis report for designating each candidate have been provided for public comments as well. Relevant stakeholders are welcome to comment (via Email: [email protected]; or Tel: 02-3019-6730, 6752) on hazards, circulation volume, uses, exempted uses, safer alternatives or technologies, sunset date, socio-economic benefits, etc.
