On Dec 29, 2021, South Korea’s Ministry of Environment (MoE) announced the updates of Restricted Chemical Substances List by MoE Announcement No. 2021-295. The detailed updates are specified as below:
Adding Acrylamide (Given No.06-5-14; CAS No.79-06-1) and mixtures containing 0.1% or more thereof as restricted substances, which shall not be manufactured and imported for grouting from Jul 1, 2023, and shalll not be sold, stored, transported and used for grouting from Jan 1, 2024;
Updating the content threshold in mixture from 0.06% to 0.009% for lead (Given No.06-5-8), and expanding the restrictions on coatings for wooden toys used by children under age 13 to coatings for all purposes except for applications in aircraft or military supplies (effective from Jul 1, 2022 for manufacture and importation, from Jan 1, 2023 for sales, storage, keeping, transportation and use);
For Chromium(6+) compounds and mixtures containing 0.1% or more thereof (Given No.06-5-10) , expanding the restrictions on coatings for building purposes to coatings for all purposes except for applications in aircraft, military supplies or surface treatment of steel sheet and coil in workplace (effective from Jan 1, 2023 for manufacture and importation, from Jul 1, 2023 for sales, storage, keeping, transportation and use).
