South Korea’s NIER updated on 28 Jan 2014 the non-toxic chemical substances list with additional 33 substances appended to the previous version. So far, the list includes 5,772 new substances that have undergone toxicity assessment under the Toxic Chemicals Control Act (TCCA) and been designated as non-toxic. Through the official publication, these non-toxic substances are considered as existing chemical substances and will be exempt from the new chemical registration under K-REACH when it comes into force on 1 Jan 2015.
Though nearly impossible, there is still a chance the chemical substances will be included into the priority list (Priority evaluation chemicals) if manufactured or imported in large volumes. In this case, they should comply with the existing chemical registration under K-REACH and the even original applicant under TCCA can’t be exempt from the registration obligation.
The list is accessible on the Korea’s National Chemicals Information System (NCIS) and provides the basic information of KE No., CAS No., Chemical name (EN).
