On 30 Sep 2016, South Korea’s Ministry of Environment (MoE) announced the updates of Restricted Chemical Substances List by MoE Announcement No.2016-190. The detailed updates are specified as below:
(1) addition of 8 substances (See Table 1, substance No.7-No.14) to one type of restricted substance(NIER’s No.06-5-6);
(2) restricted uses for this type of substances supplemented from "Manufacture, importation, sales, keeping, storage, transportation and use for household detergents, inks and paints are prohibited" to "Manufacture, importation, sales, keeping, storage, transportation and use for 1.1 household detergents, inks and paints; 1.2 cleaning and detergent for industrial use and fiber leather processing purposes are prohibited"
The updates will be effective three months after the publication. However, for substances with CAS No. 68412-54-4, 37205-87-1, 26027-38-3 and 127087-87-0, the restricted conditions on manufacture, importation, sales, keeping, storage, transportation and use of these substances for inks and paints will come into force on 1 Jul 2018.
