On 24 Nov 2014, Taiwan’s EPA issued the Approval Regulations for Class 4 Toxic Chemical Substances, which requires the handlers of Class 4 toxic chemical substances to apply for approval permits prior to manufacture, import, export, sale and use.
The approval will be valid for five years, in this time handlers are allowed to apply for an extension of 5 years. The application for extension should be submitted a minimum of 3 months before the approval expires, but no earlier than 6 months before the expiry date.
For transitional measures, the companies having obtained approval prior to the implementation of this regulation will be regarded as having obtained temporary approval permits with validity until the 30th of June 2017.
Starting from January 1st the authority will provide an online application tool for Class 4 toxic chemical substances handlers to process applications for approval permit or extension, modification, replacement or renewal. The applications will be reviewed within 20 days (20 more days if further consultation required).
