Taiwan Publishes Official English Version of Regulation of New and Existing Chemical Substance Registration

An official English translation of the Regulation of New and Existing Chemical Substances Registration (hereafter referred to as the Regulation), a subordinate regulation under the revised Toxic Chemical Substances Control Act has been published by the Environmental Protection Administration on 16 Feb 2015.

The regulation details the registration requirements of new and existing chemical substances in Taiwan, as well as information dissemination and confidential business information protection.

Compared to its draft version issued in August of 2014, the final regulation implemented on 11th of Dec 2014 includes key alterations to tonnage banding, joint registration, transitional measures and confidentiality protection (See ChemLinked news).

The registration requirements are specified in Appendix of the regulation.

  • Appendix 1 for standard registration of new chemical substances

  • Appendix 2 for simplified registration of new chemical substances

  • Appendix 3 for small quantity registration of new chemical substances

  • Appendix 4 Information Indicated on the Registration Document for the New Chemical Substances

  • Appendix 5 for Phase 1 registration of existing chemical substances

  • Appendix 6 for phase-in designated standard registration for existing chemical substances (Phase 2 registration of existing chemical substances)

  • Appendix 7 Information Indicated on the Registration Document for Designated Standard Registration of the Existing Chemical Substances
