Taiwan Unveils New Registration Framework for Priority Existing Chemical Substances

Taiwan is evolving its PEC registration system from a model that required registrants to submit all data to a more efficient approach where the authority gathers available public data and registrants only need to fill in identified gaps. This new framework alleviates the burdens on registrants while emphasizing non-animal testing and speeding up risk assessments.

On November 13, 2025, Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment (MOENV) outlined its registration plan for priority existing chemical substances (PECs), along with a priority substance list for data collection and evaluation.
