UK Expands Controls for Drug Precursor Chemicals

The UK expanded control of drug precursor chemicals in Great Britain and widened UK-wide criminal offences, requiring affected businesses to meet new licensing, registration, documentation, and reporting obligations from late June and early July 2026.

On 10 June 2026, the UK government issued Circular 003/2026, announcing regulatory changes to control a broader set of drug precursor chemicals (DPCs) in Great Britain and to extend UK-wide criminal offences to additional substances. The update mandates that businesses handling newly scheduled drug precursor chemicals must now adhere to strict licensing, registration, and documentation requirements to prevent their diversion into illicit drug production.
