European Commission to Revise PFOS Exemptions under POPs Regulation

On December 4, 2023, European Commission released a Draft regulation to revise several provisions concerning perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) and its derivatives under the Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 on persistent organic pollutants(also known as the POPs Regulation). The draft is open for feedback until January 1, 2024.

EU Council and Parliament Strike Deal on CLP Revision

In a recent development, the Council and the European Parliament have reached a provisional agreement regarding the amendment of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on the classification, labeling, and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP Regulation). The CLP revision aims to better identify and classify hazardous chemicals, improve communication on chemical hazards and address legal gaps and high levels of non-compliance.

Shenzhen to Revise its Mandatory Standard on Low VOC Content Paint

Starting from April 26, 2023, the revision of the local standard SZJG 54-2017 Technical Specification for Low Volatile Organic Compound Content Paint has been initiated by the China National Coating Industry Association and the Shenzhen Institute of Metrology and Quality Inspection, under the commission of Shenzhen's Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE). This draft standard is now open for public consultation, and feedback and opinions will be welcomed by filling out the survey questionnaire until December 15, 2023.
