On Aug 21, 2019, China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA) opened the public consultation period on the proposed approval of 21 new varieties of food related products to public feedback, involving 11 additives and 10 resins used in food contact materials (FCM).

MFE of New Zealand issued this consultation in order to make improvements on the assessment and reassessment process of new and existing hazardous substances and to encourage the introduction of beneficial and ‘greener’ substances.

China New Chemical
China's new chemical management system is under revision. The revision of MEP Order 7 and its overarching Regulation on Environmental Risk Assessment and Control of Chemical Substances have been notified to the WTO for comments.
The revised K-REACH legislation is a significant deviation from the regulatory mechanisms outlined in the previous version. The amendments came into effect on Jan 1st, 2019, which sets out a plan of registering existing substances over 1 ton per year in the next 12 years.
