With the Measures for the Environmental Management Registration of New Chemical Substances (a.k.a. MEE Order No.12) in effect, the Solid Waste and Chemical Management Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (SCC-MEE) has released a series of FAQs to help enterprises fulfill their obligations under the Measures. The fourth batch of 15 FAQs were recently published on June 30.

Dangerous Goods to Be Declared within 24 Hours before Arriving at Shanghai Port

On June 24, 2022, the Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) issued the Notification on Further Strengthening the Safety Management for Hazardous Chemicals Containers. The Notification stipulates that from July 1, 2022 the shipping companies and agents involving certain hazardous chemicals shall declare their dangerous goods via email within 24 hours prior to arriving at Shanghai port.

[Updated] Japan Proposes to Add Additional Existing Substances into the FCM Positive List

On April 26, 2022, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) of Japan announced to start the nomination for existing substances in the FCM Positive List again. The application can be submitted before July 16, 2022. MHLW emphasized that this would be the last opportunity to submit a request for an existing substance to be included in the FCM Positive List.

Thailand: New Deadline for Declaration of Production or Importation of Annex 5.6 Hazardous Substances to the DIW

On June 27, 2022, Thailand’s Department of Industrial Works (DIW) published in the Government Gazette the revised Notification of the Department of Industrial Works Re: Declaration of the Production or Import of Hazardous Substances of Annex 5.6 under Responsibility of the DIW B.E. 2565 (2022), which will come into force on September 25 and the previous version issued in 2015 will be repealed at the same time.
