China Opens IECSC Supplementation

China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) has reopened the supplementation of China’s Inventory of Existing Chemical Substances (IECSC). The scope of this new round of IECSC supplementation is the same as the last one, i.e. only substances manufactured or imported into China before Oct 15th, 2003 would be eligible.

Vietnam Introduces Annual Reporting System

Speaking at ChemCon held in Seoul on Jun 19, Mr. Le Viet Thang from Vietnam Chemicals Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade introduced Vietnam’s annual reporting system of chemicals. According to Mr. Thang, in the past companies were required to report many times per year, while now the different requirements are combined into one report, meaning companies only need to report once per year.

Reporting on Actual Volume of New Chemicals Previously Registered below 0.1 t/y under K-REACH

The revised Act on Registration, Evaluation, etc. of Chemical Substances (K-REACH) entered into force on Jan 1st, 2019. Previously, simplified registration was applied to new chemical substances in quantities less than 1 t/y (2015.1.1~2019.12.31) or less than 0.1 t/y after 2020. After revision, new chemical substances manufactured or imported in low volume below 0.1 t/y only require notification rather than registration.
