Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA) currently regulates decaBDE, PFOA and PFHxS as Hazardous Substances under the Environmental Protection and Management Act (EPMA) and Environmental Protection and Management (Hazardous Substances) Regulations (EPM(HS) Regs). Tightened regulatory requirements will be imposed on them.

Taiwan’s Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) issued on July 21, 2022 the draft amendments of the Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Labelling and SDS Regulation (hereafter referred to as the “Regulation”). The draft proposal is currently undergoing a 30-day public consultation.

In September of 2022, China MEE released the Draft List of New Pollutants for Priority Management. South Korea opened a public consultation on rules of using non-testing methods for chemical registration under K-REACH. Japan sought hazard information on 3 ‘default candidate substances’. India published the Hydrogen Peroxide (Quality Control) Order, 2022. Australia announced the addition of 6 substances to AIIC. EU consulted on the introduction of new hazard classes. US EPA proposed to stop the authorized use of PFASs in antimicrobials.

Taiwan to Allow Online Application for TCSI Inclusion

Taiwan’s new chemical registration system has been implemented since the end of 2014. There is increased demand from the industry for listing qualified new chemical substances in Taiwan’s existing chemical substance inventory (TCSI). As planned, a new function will be incorporated into the Chemical Substances Register 2.0 to enable online application for TCSI inclusion from October 3, 2022.
