Korea Updates Toxic Chemical Substance and GHS Classification Lists

1. Eight substances have been newly added to the South Korea’s Toxic Chemical Substance List (TCSL) and GHS Classification List. 2. Classification and labeling elements of one toxic chemical substance (published in 2000) has been updated. 3. One substance has been added to the South Korea’s Observational Chemical Substances List (OCSL).

1. Companies should register new chemical substances under OSHA as well as K-REACH. 2. Before 2020, data submission requirements for new chemical substances < 1t/y will vary hugely between OSHA and K-REACH. 3. MoEL may consider waiving some test data under OSHA to relieve the regulatory burden on potential registrants.
