On 6 Oct 2014, South Korea’s National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) announced by NIER Notice No.2014-29 that the South Korea’s Toxic Chemical Substance List (TCSL) and Observational Chemical Substances List (OCSL) were updated. In addition, on the same date, one substance was added into Korea’s GHS Classification List by NIER Notice No.2014-30.
Eight toxic substances are newly added into the TCSL. In addition, the information of one toxic chemical originally listed on the TCSL in 2000 was revised. The classification information, pictograms, signal words, hazard statements and M factors, etc. of these nine toxic chemical substances were updated accordingly in Korea’s GHS Classification List.
The updates of the TCSL and OCSL should be appended within a month after the publication of NIER Notice No.2014-29. For the GHS Classification list, changes are effective immediately after notice issuance. The details of the three updated inventories are summarized in Table 1 and Table 2 as below.
