The NICS publicizes the hazard assessment results for 79 registered new chemical substances, the modification of hazard assessment results for 34 previously listed new chemical substances and 13 previously listed existing chemical substances, the modification of given numbers for 18 previously listed existing chemicals due to the acquisition of supplementary data, and the adjustment of hazard information on one previously listed existing chemical substance.

UK Removes Substance Notification Requirement from GB CLP Regulations

China NHC Adopts Two New FCM Substances

On May 20, 2026, China’s National Health Commission issued Announcement No. 5 of 2026, approving two substances for use in food contact materials: polyvinyl alcohol for indirect food contact adhesives and calcium tert-butylphosphonate for PE and PP plastics.

South Korea Proposes Amendments to Specific Handling Standards for Hazardous Chemicals

On May 19, 2026, by NICS Notice No. 2026-42, South Korea’s National Institute of Chemical Safety (NICS) announced a proposed partial amendment to the Regulations on Specific Handling Standards for Hazardous Chemicals. The proposed updates aim to establish specific safety guidelines for 74 newly designated hazrdous substances (possessing Skin Corrosive Cat. 1B or 1C) and to enhance the handling protocols for Carbon Monoxide.
