Ukraine Implements CLP Regulation to Align With EU Standards

On May 10, 2024, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine has officially approved the Technical Regulation on Hazard Classification, Labeling and Packaging of Chemical Products (hereinafter referred to as the Technical Regulation). The Resolution on Approval of the Technical Regulation was published on May 15, 2025 and will enter into force on November 15, 2024.

Mexico Revises Import and Export Rules for Toxic Substances
May 15, 2024
Starting from April 13, 2024, Mexico is requesting a Registry of Verification (RV) issued by the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA) for import and export of certain toxic substances listed in subparagraph (d) of Annex I to Agreement that establishes the goods whose import and export are subject to regulation by the agencies that make up the Inter-Ministerial Commission for the Control of the Process and Use of Pesticides, Fertilizers and Toxic Substances(hereinafter referred to as the Agreement).

France Moves Forward with PFAS Ban Amid Industry Pushback

Despite opposition from the government and industries, French National Assembly nodded through a proposed bill aimed at protecting the population from the risks linked to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on April 4, 2024. The bill will proceed to the Senate for deliberation.

Singapore Takes Decisive Steps to Eliminate Fire-fighting Foams Containing PFAS
Mar 20, 2024
Starting from January 1, 2026, Singapore will phase out the import and use of firefighting foams containing PFOA and PFOS, including their salts and related compounds. After January 1, 2026, companies can continue using fire-fighting foams containing PFAS if trace contaminant concentrations are below their respective threshold limits, and disposal must be done through licensed Toxic Industrial Waste Collectors by the NEA.

Brazil REACH Makes Headway in Legislative Action

Recently, Brazil's emerging national chemical law has cleared the Chamber of Deputies and the final signed version was officially sent to Federal Senate for consideration. The Bill (PL 6120/2019), which resembles a simplified version of EU REACH, is now assigned to three separate Committees in the Senate for successive procedures.
