South Korea opened a public consultation on the hazard assessments results new chemical substances registered under K-REACH. Japan announced the addition of 6 priority assessment chemical substances and the removal of 6 substances previously listed. Thailand extended the deadline for 2022 annual report on hazardous chemicals in industrial plants. India issued the draft EPR regulations for used oil to seek public comments.

In March of 2023, China issued draft amendments to ‘GB 6944 Classification and code of dangerous goods’ and ‘GB 12268 List of dangerous goods’ for public consultation. South Korea published a notice to urge enterprises handling Group B biocidal active substances to speed up dossier preparation and submission for approval under K-BPR. Two batches of 1,469 hazardous substances are proposed to mandate SDS and labelling requirements under Japan ISHL. Thailand imposed a destruction order on PFOA, its salts and PFOA-related compounds. Australia restricted the introduction or use of two POPs.

South Korea consulted on updating quantity limits for toxic substances that require submitting a chemical accident prevention management plan. Japan consulted on banning PFHxS, its salts and related compounds. Australia considered changing TDG classification information under ADG Code. New Zealand consulted on banning PFHxS, its salts and related compounds through HSNO Act. Singapore officially released revised standards for GHS classification, labeling and SDS.

In January of 2023, Shanghai Customs expended the application of new inspection mode for imported hazardous chemicals from ports to airports. South Korea added rules and requirements for reporting the changes of priority management substances contained in products under K-REACH. Japan MHLW opened a public consultation on updating lists of poisonous and deleterious chemicals designated under the PDSCL. Australia added three chemicals to the AIIC and removed two previously listed chemicals.

Japan proposed a schedule to set exposure limits to substances that are subject to risk assessement in the workplace. Australia updated the AIIC by adding 7 chemicals and revoking the CBI approval for 2 industrial chemicals. Thailand released the updated List of Hazardous Substances.

Shanghai Customs announced to pilot reform of inspection mode for imported hazardous substances from December 1. Taiwan published the revised Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Labeling and SDS Regulation. South Korea made public the first 11 candidate substances subject to authorization under K-REACH. Thailand DIW added 8 PFOA, its salts, and PFOA-related compounds to the List of Hazardous Substances.

Japan updated SDS and labeling guidance under the PRTR Law. Singapore intended to impose licensing requirements on 26 chemicals from June 2023. Vietnam released draft amendments(06/2007/QH12) to the Law on Chemicals, which are expected to take effect in May 2025.
