On Oct 9th, the Ministry of Industrial and Information Technology (MIIT) started the third batch of amendments and implementations of Chinese industrial standards. The plan covers 427 new standards and 160 amendments.
15 industrial standards affecting the coating industry will be newly formulated and will be implemented on non-compulsory basis. 4 of these standards concern water based coatings, specifically:
Water based diatom coatings for interior walls
Dispersant for water based coatings
Water based alkyd resin for coatings
Aluminum pigment for coatings part 5: water based aluminum paste
Besides affecting the coating industry, MIIT’s reform of Chinese national industry standards will also affect multiple industries such as the chemical, non-ferrous metal, automobile, food, packaging etc.
