On March 29, 2021, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) published the 2021 National Plan for Supervision and Sampling Inspection of Product Quality. The 2021 plan will focus more on consumer products and products for special populations. It will insist on unifying supervision of production and distribution of both online and offline businesses. Indicators regarding product safety and key performance will be the priority focus during inspection.
This is a routine inspection conducted by the SAMR yearly. The 2021 inspection plan covers 137 types of products, including 36 types of electronic and electrical products, 6 types of agricultural goods, 19 types of construction and decoration materials, 7 types of electrical engineering materials and products, 23 types of mechanical and security and safety products, 20 types of daily-use and textile products, 14 types of durable consumer products and 12 types of food-related products (e.g. film bags, plastic baby bottles, paper cups, tableware detergent, etc.). The SAMR will publicize the inspection results and deal with any product quality violations in accordance with law.
