On October 18, 2021, the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) published a notice [1], announcing that 23 substances were included into the Inventory of Existing Chemical Substances (IECSC).
This is the fifth batch of existing substances that were added into the inventory after IECSC supplementation window was opened in June 2019 (ChemLinked News). The other four batches were included into the IECSC last year and earlier this year, including:
the first batch of 156 substances published on May 6, 2020;
the second batch of 238 substances published on December 19, 2020;
the third batch of 204 substances published on April 15, 2021;
the fourth batch of 8 substances published on July 7, 2021.
These substances were manufactured in or imported into China before October 15, 2003, which fulfilled the supplementation criteria but missed the previous supplementation window. They are now regulated as existing chemical substances in China, and thus free from new chemical registration or notification requirements under the Measures for the Ecology and Environmental Management Registration of New Chemical Substances (MEE Order No.12 [2]).
The last update to the IECSC was made in August 2021, adding 15 substances (ChemLinked News).
