China MEP is poised to issue registration certificates for 7 China new chemical substance notifications if no dissenting opinions are raised until 8 May, 2013. According to the MEP Announcement on 6 May, two of the published substances are notified through one serial notification, one substance is notified through joint notification. Among the 8 substances, four are classified as hazardous new chemical substances, the others as general new chemical substances.
It is the first time that the MEP consults on registration certificate for the serial notification, one special type of regular notification, which applies for chemical substances of similar molecular structure, identical or similar uses, and similar testing data. The 2 new chemical substances being consulted this time are both notified by ExxonMobil Chemical Services (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. Each new chemical substance in the serial notification could be granted a certificate once the notification gets approved.
Apart from the 7 new chemical substance notifications, China MEP is also soliciting comments on modification of the certificate holder’s name on the registration certificate owned by Dow Chemical (China) Co., Ltd . If approved, the original registration certificate will be returned to the CRC in exchange for the new certificate, and Dow Chemical (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will be the new certificate holder. The detailed information on the 7 notifications and the modification of information on registration certificate are specified in Table 1 and Table 2 below, respectively.
