China’s MIIT Publish RoHS2 Management Catalogue and Exemption List

On 12 March 2018, China’s MIIT officially released Achieving Management Catalogue for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical Appliances and Electronic Products (first batch) and Exemption List for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances of the Standard Achieving Management Catalogue. The regulations will go into effect on 12 March 2019.

The list includes 12 products: refrigerators, air conditions, washing machines, electric water heaters, printers, copy machines, fax machines, TVs, monitors, computers, mobile phones, and telephones. These products should not contain more than 1000mg/kg for lead, mercury, chromium (6+), poly brominated biphenyls (PBBs) and poly brominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs); and 100mg/kg for cadmium.

However, products on the exemption list are exempted from the Measures. The exemption list includes 39 exemption scenarios for lead, cadmium, mercury, and chromium (6+).

China RoHS 2 took effect in Jan 2016. Achieving management catalogue and its exemption list are supporting documents to China RoHS 2. English version for The Catalogue and its Exemption List are available on chemlinked E-translation.
