Chinese Cleaner Production Assessment System Drafted for Open Consultation

To implement the Law of the People's Republic of China on Promotion of Cleaner Production (the 2012 amendment), China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) recently promulgated 9 draft documents on cleaner production and assessment systems for 9 distinct industries.

The 9 draft documents are formulated for the following industries: (Cleaner Production Assessment Indication System for the)

  1. Electroplating Industry

  2. Yellow Phosphorus Industry

  3. Plate Glass Industry

  4. Lead and Zinc Mining and Dressing Industry

  5. Bio-products Manufacturing Industry (mainly focuses on blood products)

  6. Reclaimed Rubber Industry

  7. Rare Earth Metallurgy Industry

  8. Electronic Component (Semiconductor Chip) Industry

  9. Power Industry (Coal-fired Plants)

These normative documents were formulated with the joint effort of NDRC, the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The final versions will replace the current corresponding standards and assessment systems.
