China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) jointed published corresponding cleaner production (CP) evaluation indicator system for six industry sectors on December 31st, 2020. They were made in accordance with the Law of People’s Republic of China on Promotion of Cleaner Production and will come into force on April 1st, 2021.
The six industry sectors are:
Chemical API manufacturing industry
Sulfuric acid industry
Reclaimed rubber industry
Germanium industry
Accommodation and catering industry
Freshwater aquaculture industry (pond)
Take the chemical API manufacturing industry for example. The CP evaluation indicator system contains both quantitative and qualitative indicators (28 indexes). The quantitative indicators are typical indicators that can reflect the final goals of cleaner production, such as "energy saving", "consumption reduction", "pollution reduction" and "efficiency enhancement". The qualitative indicators are selected according to the national policies for industrial development and technological progress, regulations of resource environmental protection, etc. The indicators will help enterprises to evaluate their CP level and find CP potential for improving the environmental performance.
