India Rescinds Quality Control Orders for Chemicals, Polymers and Textiles

The India's Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) has officially withdrawn the Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for various chemicals, polymers and textiles, effective from November 12, 2025.

This decision withdraws the QCOs for the following products:

• Terephthalic Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2021

• Ethylene Glycol (Quality Control) Order, 2021
  

• 100 Percent Polyester Spun Grey and White Yarn (Quality Control) Order, 2023

• Polyester Industrial Yarn (Quality Control) Order, 2022

• Polyester Staple Fibres (Quality Control) Order, 2022

• Polyester Continuous Filament Fully Drawn Yarn (Quality Control) Order, 2023

• Polyester Partially Oriented Yarn (Quality Control) Order, 2023

• Polyethylene Material for Moulding and Extrusion (Quality Control) Order, 2022

• Acrylonitrile-Butadiene Styrene (ABS) (Quality Control) Order, 2021

• Polypropylene (PP) Materials for Moulding and Extrusion (Quality Control) Order, 2024

• Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Homopolymers (Quality Control) Order, 2024

• Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymers (Quality Control) Order, 2022

• Polyurethanes (Quality Control) Order, 2021

• Polycarbonate (Quality Control) Order, 2021
  

DCPC stated that the withdrawl is deemed necessary to meet the public interest after consulting with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). 

With the withdrawal of these QCOs, manufacturers will no longer need to obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards or ensure their products bear the Standard Mark.
