Korea Seeks Comments on Updates to GHS Classification List

South Korea’s NICS has issued a draft amendment to update the GHS Classification List for 75 expected hazardous substances, imposing new classification and labeling duties with proposed compliance deadlines in 2027 and 2028.

On December 2, 2025, South Korea's National Institute of Chemical Safety (NICS) issued draft partial amendments of the Regulation on Classification and Labeling of Chemical Substances to seek public comments. The proposal focuses on updating the GHS Classification List (i.e., Annex 4 of the Regulation) to reflect re-evaluations triggered by the revised hazardous criteria under K-REACH. The draft partial amendment introduces classification and labeling requirements for 75 chemicals that are expected to be designated as hazardous substances while correcting administrative details for certain existing entries. Stakeholders are invited to submit comments on this proposal until December 22, 2025.
