MEP Publishes China NCSN Statistics in the Second Half of 2013

According to the statistics for  China new chemical substances notification (China NCSN, a.k.a China REACH) issued by China MEP, 36 regular notifications, 1,389 simplified notifications and 488 scientific research record notifications have been approved in the second half of 2013. 

Since the beginning of China NCSN a total of 115 regular notifications, 10,776 simplified notifications and 2,753 scientific research record notifications have been approved by 2013. Based on the regular notification data collected, totally 120 new chemical substances have been notified through the 115 regular notifications (since some are notified through serial notification). Among the approved substances, 49 are notified as hazardous new chemical substances of priority environmental concern, 45 as hazardous new chemical substances and 26 as general new chemical substances.

As for Simplified Notification, in total 1,389 simplified notifications have been approved in the second half of 2013. Apart from the general case, most new chemical substances are notified under the special case, which is further divided into six sub categories. Totally 488 scientific research record notifications (SRRN) have been approved in the second half of 2013. The follow-up import or manufacture of these new substances is approved in China at the annual tonnage below 0.1 t/y for the sole purpose of scientific research, or as samples used for the compulsory eco-tox testing that must be performed in a MEP-approved Chinese laboratories (so far 11 labs).
