South Korea Consults on New Toxic Chemical Substances

23 new toxic chemical substances will be listed into the TCSL. The content threshold of one toxic chemical substance will be updated.

Updated on 7 Jul by MoE Announcement No. 2017-130, the 23 toxic chemical substances (Given No. 2017-1-773~2017-1-795) were officially added into South Korea’s Toxic Chemical Substance List (TCSL).

Published on 8 May 2017 by MoE Notice No. 2017-369, South Korea’s Ministry of Environment (MoE) is now consulting on (1) supplementation of 23 toxic chemical substances (Given No. 2017-1-773~2017-1-795) into South Korea’s Toxic Chemical Substance List (TCSL); (2) update of the content threshold of one previously announced toxic substance (1,4-Dichlorobenzene).

For 1,4-Dichlorobenzene (CAS No. 106-46-7), it is classified as carcinogen Group 1 according to IARC’s final report (International Agency for Research on Cancer ). The content threshold will be updated from 25% to 0.1% based on the newly classified hazards.
