South Korea Designates 15 New Toxic Chemicals

15 chemical substances were listed as toxic. Chemical name or concentration threshold were updated for 3 toxic substances that were previously designated. Additional transitional measures were provided for control of these substances.

On 12 Oct, 2018, South Korea National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) published by NIER Announcement No.2018-42 a batch of 15 chemicals (given No. 2018-1-855 to 2018-1-869) that are newly designated as toxic chemical substances. In addition, the chemical names of two toxic chemical substances (Given No. 2017-1-774, 2018-1-829) were updated. The concentration threshold of one toxic chemical substance (Given No. 2017-1-789) in mixture was updated from 25% to 5%. The updates came into effective immediately.
